"Death Be Not Proud"

The poem “Death be not proud” by John Donne was another good poem, it was basically about how death thinks he special  because it has the power to life, but he really is not because he has to take everyone’s life, it does not matter who you are. So that pretty much saying that he is a slave to everyone out there. The reason why death is not at all powerful is because there are also other things that can take our lives such as sickness and poison. Also even though death can take our life, when we go to the afterlife, and doing that time we are living forever and death seizes to exist. What I got from this poem was to live your life because nothing is guarantee, and it gives me a whole new perspective on what life mean.  It makes me feel bad about the ones that are out there sick, fighting for their lives. Not knowing what to expect they just live their lives and wait till death takes them away. Other than that I think John Donne is a very inspirational.

"The Fish"

The poem “The Fish” was a very good one too, it was about a fisherman who catches a fish and he talked about what the fish looked like and how it was beat up. The fisherman then describes the fish and notice that he was not the only one that has tried to catch it. The fish had fought with the other fishermen and when he had encounter it he saw it. He knew that the fish had given up on life, that’s why he let the fisherman catch him. After realizing all that the fish had been through, he finally decide to throw the fish back in the water and let it free. If I was in his shoes, after realizing what the fish had been through I honestly would have let him go because if I was in the fish position I would feel the same way. Other people would have not agreed with me, some would rather eat the fish because they caught it, and I understand that, but after going through what that fish did it’s the right thing.

"The Road not Taken"

We read a couple of poems but the one that I liked the most was the “Road not taken” it was writing by Robert frost. This poem was mainly about a man who approaches these roads and had to make a decision on which one to take. He had to choose a path, not knowing where either one leads. He compared both roads, picking out the one that best fits him, and coming to a decision. At the beginning he looked down both roads to see which one was the right one, and one road was filled with leaves and the other was clear. Robert frost is interpret that we all have decisions in life and different roads to get to where we want to be, mostly everybody takes the easy road to get the easy way out. After making a decision he planned to take a different road realizing that he cannot come back, because one a choice is made it leads to different things and going back is not going to be a suitable option for to rely on. What I learned from this poem is never let go of your goals, and if you one something go after it.

"How to become a writer"

The Story “How to become a writer” was very interesting. When I first started to read it was kind of confusing at the start, and when I continued to read it I began to understand what she was trying to say, and also I could relate to it how she was messing up on papers, and having really challenging papers to write Everything was pretty much what we do now and some of the things that we go through. She talking to us the audience and trying to get us to understand that becoming a writer is difficult. She also talked about how you can put your all in a paper and have it rejected. She wanted us to experience what she was pretty much talking about, like how to become a writer and the different circumstances that come along with trying to achieve at something and be the best that you can be. There were some laughter within the story, but it was mainly about how you follow your dream or passion, and how to accomplish something. After reading it you understand that if becoming a writer is something you want to do, you are going to encounter a lot of challenges before reaching your goal.

"A Good Man is Hard to Find"

Another story we read was “A Good man is Hard to Find” which was written by Flannery O’Conner. This was about an elderly woman and her family. She lived with her son bailey, his wife and their two kids. Bailey’s mother decided that they should go on a road trip to Tennessee and not Florida, because she had read in the newspaper that a misfit was heading that way. On the day of the trip, the grandmother hides he cat and on their way she tells the kid stories. While in the car the grandmother explain that there was another house, and claimed that she knew a shortcut. So on their way there, the grandmother realizes that she was wrong and accidentally let the cat go, which resulted into bailey wrecking the car. After the wreck they were approached by three men, and one happened to be the misfit, and the grandmother knowing him, pointed him out. The grandmother tried to convince the misfit, telling him that he a good man, and he told his friends that they should take bailey and his son into the woods, Bailey came back and was later killed by the misfit, so was the grandmother.

"The Yellow Wallpaper"

The Yellow Wallpaper was another good story that we had to read. It was about a woman who was going through some mental issue, and she was taken into care by her husband.  John her husband was her doctor, who put her in an isolated room with nothing but yellow wallpaper. She spends months in the room, with nothing to do. After some time she became insane, and started to illusionate that there was a women within the yellow wall paper. As time went by she began to lose a grip of reality, and started to become distant from her friends and family.  While in the room she was trying to accomplish one thing and that was to set the lady free within the wallpaper. This symbolize her becoming free from the room She became obsessed with the wallpaper. Jennie who was the sister of the husband begins to notice some strange thing around the room, like yellow stain over the wall and stuff. She eventually ripped the wallpaper off the wall and began to crawl over the place, and was later approached by her husband at the door where he fainted, and she was left free to leave the room.
